Kockens Enbär Burk - Juniper Berries 24g
The juniper berries used in cooking are simply the berries from juniper bushes. In the first year, the juniper plant blooms with white flowers, which later develop into berries. In the second year, the berries turn green, and after another year, they become dark blue-purple—only then are they harvested and dried for use as a spice.
Juniper berries have a distinct forest-like flavor, often associated with game meat. They are particularly well-suited for rich stews, sauces, marinades, and wild game dishes. They are also used in German sauerkraut (sauerkraut) and for flavoring spirits, such as in gin, where juniper gives it its signature taste.
