Kockens Gurkmeja Burk - Turmeric 43g

The turmeric plant is a perennial herb belonging to the ginger family. It grows 60–100 cm tall, with large leaves and yellow flowers. The spice is derived from its bright yellow to orange-yellow rhizome.

At the end of the growing season, when the leaves begin to wither, the plant is harvested. The fresh rhizome is boiled for 2–3 hours, then sun-dried for 6–8 days, brushed, polished, and finally ground into a fine powder.

Turmeric enhances both the color and flavor of dishes such as light sauces, soups, rice, couscous, and Asian cuisine.
